For the last 3 three years payments and interest have been postponed for the Federal Student Loans. As of September 1st, 2023 these payments, and the interest accrual, have started again. For most borrowers, the first payments are due in October of 2023.
Most have heard that the Biden Administration’s attempt to Forgive student loan debts were struck down by the Supreme Court. However, the SCOTUS only stated that this was struck down because of the manner in which their case was presented. That has left the door open for other programs that may provide some much needed relief at the start of this repayment process.
